Monday 15th July - 13.45-19.00 h
Tourist visiting the Guido coal mine will explore excellently preserved mining level 320 metres below the surface, the Europe’s deepest tourist routes of this kind. You go down there with the authentic mining elevator.
You will walk through authentic mining corridors, see large scale mining machines in operation and take a ride in suspended electric rail. The experience at 320 level is mostly connected with exploring the development of mining technology from the end of the 19th century up to modern times.
Here you will learn how the hard work of a coal miner looks like, in what conditions the coal is mined and what mother nature can do with the tunnels if they are not protected with support. You will go through a maze of mining excavations – at some points it will be steep and dark!
Although Guido Coal Mine stopped its coal extraction long time ago, there is still some coal left. During the tour you’ll see it at least four times, in its raw form – seams that are two meters thick. The deepest underground pub offering local beer is also located here.
Excursions can be closed earlier if the maximum number of participants has been reached.Excursions can be cancelled if the minimum number of participants has not been reached. In that case, participants will be refunded.
